Energy Storage System Design

Moye Consultants provides electrical engineering services and specializes in designing energy storage technology. This includes modeling novel electrochemical energy storage devices, integrating energy storage technologies into larger systems, and other electrochemical techniques, as far ranging as water purification.

Key Business Capabilities

Energy storage design. Moye Consultants recently developed the Simultaneous Battery and Capacitor Design Model (SBCDM). The SBCDM is a novel energy storage device model that considers size and properties of the materials used to make the energy storage device and the desired operating current (or power), mass and volume. From this information the SBCDM computes the amount of energy stored or discharged during a dis/charge cycle.

Energy storage system integration. Many energy storage products are on the market, but a one-size fits all approach is seldom appropriate. Total energy storage and cost are important factors, but so are maximum power, cycle life, volatility, and flammability. Moye Consultants has the expertise to optimize a customer’s energy storage experiences by properly combining commercial off the shelf products. It is working on a Power Smoothing Module (PSM) for Solar Plus Storage renewable energy-energy storage combinations on the kilowatt scale.

Other electrical and electrochemical services. Moye Consultants has provided services in other electrical engineering and electrochemical domains. These include solar energy products and electrochemical water purification.

ABOUT

About

It all began in the 1950s, when George Henry Peden, World War II veteran, new husband and father, and newly minted engineer decided to uproot from Oklahoma and settle in the Florida Panhandle. George Henry went on to found Peden and Savoie Engineering Company, and earned a name for himself by designing Pensacola's waste water treatment plant in the 1970s and speaking against the railroad tracks between Highway 90 and Escambia Bay.  Tragedy struck in 1977 when a train derailed from a poorly situated railroad track and killed a nearby family! 70 years later George Henry's grandson, Davis George Moye, continues the family legacy from his office in Tallahassee. Davis George's expertise has included sonar and electromagnetic modeling and optimization, water purification systems (go figure!), and solar energy.  Now Moye Consultants focuses upon energy storage design and system integration.
